Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the minimum I have to give to qualify for membership benefits?
The annual Hummingbird level of $45 or the monthly California Least Tern level of $5 a month (or more) both entitle you to all of our membership benefits.
2. What's the difference between donating and becoming a member?
One-time donations can be made at any time in the amount of $5 or more, but do not come with the benefits outlined above. Signing up for a membership requires a monthly or annual contribution of a minimum amount (outlined in the question above) and will entitle you to neat, exclusive offerings that will keep you optimally informed as a part of our community.
We are so grateful for every dollar donated, though we always recommend signing up for a membership. Doing so will grant you more benefits, keeping you up-to-date and more closely connected to our work and community!
3. Can I renew my membership automatically?
Yes – Just select the “automatically renew” option when you sign up online for an annual membership. Each year, your credit card will be automatically charged to keep your membership active. An email reminder will be sent before the renewal, and you can cancel at any time.
4. What methods of payment do you accept?
You can pay via ACH, Apply Pay, Google Pay, debit card, or credit card. If you would prefer to donate via check, please mail it to our office at 4010 Morena Blvd, Suite 100 | San Diego, CA 92117. Please indicate "Membership" on the memo line.
5. If I have membership questions, who should I contact?
Reach our Philanthropy department at memberships@sandiegobirdalliance.org or (858) 273-7800 x107. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible!
6. Are you the same as the National Audubon Society?
Not quite! We are the San Diego chapter of the National Audubon Society and remain affiliated with them, but we essentially function as a separate subsidiary entity – focused on bird conservation, advocacy, and education efforts local to the San Diego county region. You may have heard of us under our previous name, the San Diego Audubon Society. We decided to change our name in 2023. You can read all about why right here.
*It’s important to note that we do not receive donations made directly to the National Audubon Society. If you are a member of the National Audubon Society and interested in supporting bird populations local to San Diego county, consider joining our membership program today!
