Emma Gray

Emma Gray

Emma graduated from UCSD in June 2025 with a B.S. in General Biology and a minor in Anthropology: Climate Change and Human Solutions. She contributed to published mangrove conservation research with the Aburto Lab at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. She was involved in various extracurriculars and leadership roles at UCSD working to bring energy efficiency and environmental awareness to the UCSD campus and wider San Diego community. She has volunteered with the San Diego River Parks Foundation, Wild Willow Farm, and in her hometown with San Francisco Parks and Recreation. While working full-time as a barista, Emma is currently volunteering at the San Diego Natural History Museum in the Botany Department. She is helping build an online archive of the plant specimens in The Nat’s herbarium and also conducts habitat restoration and field work with the “Healthy Canyons” team. In her free time, Emma enjoys gardening, volleyball, rock climbing, and paddleboarding. She is working towards developing a career where she can work outdoors to protect the environment and help people grow their love of nature. She believes that building community appreciation for local plants and animals will help people feel more inclined to protect their natural environment and build a wholesome, sustainable future.
