Sienna Mendoza

Sienna Mendoza is currently an undergraduate student at the University of California, Santa Cruz, studying to complete her B.S. in Environmental Sciences on the Ocean Science track. Sienna started her professional work at Mission Bay Aquatic Center as a watersports and marine science instructor for over 3 summers, supporting children's learning in marine and environmental sciences. She continued to pursue her passion for marine and field biology in college, joining the Survey Slugs program as a marine carcass and debris data collector and the Kapuscinski-Sarker Lab as an undergraduate intern focused on ecological aquaculture. Outside of her professional commitments, Sienna has been pursuing hip-hop dance since a young age, continuing to flourish in the San Diego and Santa Cruz dance community. She was one of the artistic and training directors of Cruz Ctrl in Santa Cruz, leading them to their first trophies in 2025, and created her own dance project in 2026 to inspire all generations about how dance supports our mental and physical health. She has also volunteered with numerous organizations targeting food insecurity and supporting the unhoused population in San Diego. Sienna hopes to provide warm welcomes to all people who join us at the San Diego Bird Alliance.
