Thais Thomazini

Thais is a wildlife biologist with a master’s degree in biosciences from UNESP, Brazil, where she led research on burrowing owl populations. Since 2012, she has worked across field ecology, laboratory research, education, and community programs, working with a wide range of wildlife—including birds, mammals, and insects. Her work often focuses on creating inclusive, science-based initiatives that connect people with the natural world.

She also has substantial nonprofit experience, managing grants for wildlife conservation and volunteers of all ages, and supporting public engagement at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo, with a focus on fostering inclusive and positive experiences.

Passionate about her work, Thais believes conservation and education are interconnected—and is committed to creating opportunities that welcome more people into that mission. As educator Paulo Freire said, “Education changes people. People change the world.”
